does your wardrobe have a WHY?

A personal note.
Time is WILD.
It's June. Another school year is ending. 2025 is nearly half gone and I feel like I just got into a groove.
Thinking back on the last 5 months, there were two main factors that kept me from finding a rhythm sooner: myself and my space. Back in March, I shared how I got in my own way and that shifting my mindset was key to shifting my outlook and actions (read post here). Since then, I've reflected on my interior space and realized that my wardrobe has been consuming my thoughts, in a way I didn't know it could.
Tackling any area in your home is a process. IMO, your wardrobe is the toughest because it holds the most mental-emotional weight. I love helping people work through their clothing. When they hire me, it's clear they've reached a breaking point. They're done dealing with the visual chaos. Done with the decision fatigue of not knowing what to wear because they don't know all that they have. And done feeling less than when they step out of their closet every day. All of the doneness makes their "why" for taking on their wardrobe apparent, and when we work together, I see how that why fuels them. They're empowered with a strength and determination to see the challenge through. It's kind of amazing and inspiring, and yet, I've struggled to get where they are.

...facing the clothes and anything lurking beneath them is what's HARD.
Yes, I've certainly decluttered and revamped the organization of my clothes, shoes, and accessories, many times. And each new iteration has looked and served me better than the previous. But since my last major clothing purge a few years ago, I've felt paralyzed with how to get my wardrobe to a place that doesn't simply look organized. I want it to feel right. I want to love and see myself in every garment. I want to feel good and confident in whatever I put on, because when I do, it's a day changer!
Your wardrobe is, possibly, the most personal space in your home. It's where we can express ourselves, and hopefully, get to be ourselves.
I'm done with continuously reaching for the same to make it safe and easy because in the end it feels boring and small and a disservice to the incredible pieces I have, and most importantly, to myself.
Growing my style and SELF-CONFIDENCE is my "why".

It feels weird to stop this post here, but I am. It's taken years to uncover this why and build up the courage to tackle my wardrobe, FOR REAL. Working through my own closet is totally different than helping my clients with theirs! It's a personal, emotional, eye-opening journey I'm currently undertaking, and I want to take you through the process to help you gain insight into yours. I'm documenting my progress in IG stories, so come follow along @iplusdpa. New resources, tips, and insights will be coming your way here on the I+D blog, so stay tuned and please tell me in the comments below:
