would you rather: deep clean or declutter?

Although “spring cleaning“ is meant to create a refreshed sense of calm and control in your space, simply thinking about the dirty chores and the time it will take to do them (read: bye-bye weekend!) can fill you with enough angst to repeatedly push it off.

I suspect the prospect of “spring cleaning” feels much like the phrase “get organized”. In addition to the physical dust and dirt, both of these tasks stir up emotions and a mental dread of facing things, which, in the short term, would be easier to ignore.

So, if you find yourself daunted by all that spring cleaning or home decluttering can entail:

  1. Break It Down—focusing on one room or corner at a time = working smarter, not harder.

  2. Tune In—to a podcast, favourite playlist, or even chat with a friend! This helps get you into a flow that pumps you to finish.

  3. Celebrate—whether you dusted one shelf or vacuumed every inch, It’s. A. Win. 🙌🏽 Acknowledging your efforts makes it all the more satisfying and sets your mindset up well for tackling the next area.

Having effective and efficient tools is key to making deep cleaning tasks less of a chore. My new Dyson V15 Detect is making dusting window blinds and this headboard go a lot faster and less painful!

I've barely scratched the dusty surfaces in my home this spring…but it’s a start!

would you rather deep clean or declutter your home?

Said another way: which task gives you more anticipatory angst and why? Whichever camp you're in, you are not alone. You have a friend in me to connect (or commiserate) with, anytime.

Always,
